With 18 million people in the UK suffering from allergic rhinitis (hay fever) between spring and autumn, we wanted to explain how hay fever occurs and how you may be able to reduce your symptoms to make hay fever season a little bit easier.
How does hay fever occur?
Allergies occur when the immune system overreacts to an allergen that it perceives as a threat. The proteins in pollen trigger the allergic reaction and consequently the body releases chemicals such as histamine that cause symptoms such as red and itchy eyes, sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes and sinusitis.
Some research suggests that gut health may be linked to allergies as over 70% of the immune system is made in the gut. Proteins that line the gut form barriers; if the links between the proteins become too loose, unwanted substances may leak into the bloodstream.
Coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are associated with damaged gut lining and gut inflammation.
Antibiotics, poor diet, stress, and an imbalance in gut bacteria are some factors that can also impact gut health. This is thought to lead to symptoms including migraines, food allergies and fatigue.
The community of bacteria in the gut, known as the gut microbiome, can change depending on what we eat, our stress levels and how we move. A study showed that individuals with IBS and IBD were more likely to experience migraines which may be due to inflammation in the gut and an overload of histamine intolerance.
How can symptoms be reduced?
There are a range of different medications that can be taken to relieve symptoms of hay fever including antihistamine tablets, eye drops and nasal sprays.
These medications are taken to reduce inflammation at the site of infection to help to alleviate symptoms.
Some medication can prove to be beneficial but it is important to be aware of the potential side effects. These include drowsiness from antihistamines, stomach pain from anti-inflammatory painkillers and a dried out nasal cavity from the use of saline solutions.
Eating an abundance of anti-inflammatory foods and spices can be helpful. This is because these foods such as fruit and vegetables and good quality protein sources will also provide a range of other nutrients to support your immune system. Alongside a healthy diet, the use of natural remedies and supplements can help to reduce inflammation and support your immune system.
What products can I use to help reduce my symptoms?
At Cellnutrition we provide a range of 100% natural products that are created by nature. Cellnutrition’s natural remedies support health at a cellular level, which can support your body to help combat hay fever symptoms.
CELLNUTRITION ISOTONIC NASAL SPRAY:*
This nasal spray contains 78 minerals and trace elements, directly hydrating the cells lining the nose. Other saline sprays tend to be based around sodium chloride and are heat treated. This can lead to drying out the mucosa after usage.
Cellnutrition Isotonic nasal spray maintains the defensive integrity of the mucosa as an effective barrier to infections that would otherwise gain entry into the body and stress the immune system. This ensures that the immune system stays in control to fight further infection.
Cellnutrition Isotonic nasal spray is recommended for nasal congestion, colds, allergic rhinitis, rhinopharyngitis and nasal dryness.
It can be used multiple times per day, depending on symptoms to reduce the risk of infections.
CELLNUTRITION HYPERTONIC ACTION + NASAL SPRAY:*
The Hypertonic Action Plus nasal spray is 3 times more concentrated than the Isotonic. It helps to treat active infections, within the nose and sinuses.
It should be used twice a day e.g when brushing your teeth. It is recommended for pre- and postoperative nasal surgery, flu symptoms, catarrh and severe colds, allergic rhinitis, rhinopharyngitis and rhinosinusitis.
Once active symptoms are under control you can maintain nasal and sinus health using Cellnutrition Isotonic nasal spray.
*Both nasal sprays can be used together.
CELLNUTRITION QUINTON ISOTONIC:
The synergy of all 78 bioavailable minerals and trace elements in Cellnutrition Isotonic enables it to support the body at a cellular level, supporting the health of each bodily system including the immune system. Minerals and trace elements strengthen the barriers lining the lungs and the gut.
Each mineral and trace element has a specific function but relies on at least 20 other minerals and trace elements to be absorbed and metabolised in the body. It is therefore essential to supplement with the full spectrum of 78 minerals and trace elements as opposed to one or two sole minerals.
Cellnutrition Isotonic is best taken neat, daily for maximum benefits. Take up to 6 vials per day in the morning, at midday or evening, at least 20 minutes before food or before going to bed. It is safe for everyone of all ages, including those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and it doesn’t interact with medication.
The modern diet is often higher in Omega 6 to Omega 3. Omega 6 is more pro-inflammatory whilst Omega 3 can help to reduce inflammation (a common symptom of hayfever). Omegabiocell 369 provides the optimum ratio of Omega 3: Omega 6. This helps to redress the imbalance of fatty acids in the body.
Omegabiocell 369 is the only omega oil on the market created using a unique patented bio ester technology. This provides the essential fatty acids with high bioavailability and bioretention in the body so that they are more easily absorbed and can exert their beneficial effects for longer. The four step purification process used to produce the ethyl esters (bio esters) ensures removal of all potential contaminants in vegetable oils leaving 100% ultra pure bio esters of Omega 3, 6 and 9.
It can be taken daily, on it’s own with food or added to table ready foods such as smoothies, salad dressings and overnight oats.
