Healthy Snacking

Whether you try to stick to 3 meals a day or you are following a specific diet, having a snack between meals can sometimes be beneficial.

Choosing snacks is also an easy way for us to make better food choices as they can prevent us from overeating at our next meal, helping us stick to a healthy eating regime.

Healthy eating has so many more benefits to your body than any diet.

We have shared some our favourite snacks to help you stay healthy, especially on those busy days when you find yourself rushing around.

  1. Nuts: Nuts are a great snack and you can choose different types and varieties and add them to yoghurts, have them with fruit or enjoy them on their own. They are convenient, full of fibre and are a source of protein. They can be consumed any time of the day with one small handful being the ideal portion size.
  2. Fruit: There is such a wide variety of fruit out there. It contains fibre, vitamins, minerals and water making it a refreshing and nutritious snack. Some fruits are higher in sugar to others but variety is key so change it up by having different colours every day so you consume a range of different nutrients and polyphenols.
  3. Hummus with vegetables: Cucumber, celery, carrots and peppers are some of our favourite things to dip into hummus. The chickpeas used to make hummus contain protein and fibre whilst vegetables provide vitamins and minerals, providing the perfect snack at any time of the day.
  4. Your favourite cake: We believe everything in moderation is part of a healthy eating regime. So if you do fancy a piece of cake one day, have it and enjoy it.
P.s Look out for our hummus recipe which we will share with you tomorrow!
